Spoiled Brats.

Life is tough and it can be challenging. But, the rewards that one reaps from hard work are always worth it. If not for their intrinsic value than for the value of the journey and the experience that comes along with it.

I look at my Kuwaiti colleagues and it seems that the vast majority of them have their work handed to them on a silver platter. For those who are studying they get notes, previous exams and the really spoiled get the actual exam that's gonna come up. What's the point of the educational process then? They've learned nothing. As for those who work they all seem to be busy facebooking and smoking in their offices. Most don't get any work done but they get paid an insane salary.

Another thing that pisses me off is money management. I look at grown men who are making 3 times what their Western European/American equivalent is making. And they still borrow money from their parents. If you're a bachelor, who pays no rent because you live with mommy and daddy and you make 3000$ then you should be ashamed if you ask for money. Kuwait is not that expensive of a country. And with no financial obligations you have no one to blame except yourself for poor money management. I'm proud to say that I've never borrowed money off my parents. I can take care of my own.

Which leads me to this: Would a Kuwaiti survive in a Western environment? Actual work, less pay and no one to lean back on? I think the answer would be a resounding no. How the hell is this country gonna move up the ranks of developed nations if it stays this way?

I'm worried. I think Kuwait's future is uncertain. The fact that our human resources are crap doesn't help either.
